Privacy Policy

Effective September 22, 2026

Masthead ("we," "us") runs masthead.ink, a marketplace for commissioned journalism. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep it short and we do not sell your data.

What we collect

When you submit a brief or join the writer waitlist, we collect what you give us in the form: your name, email address, the publication or outlet, the assignment or beats you describe, and budget information. When you email us, we keep that correspondence. Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and reliability. If and when you transact, our payment processor handles your payment details; we do not store card numbers.

Why we use it

We use your information to respond to your brief or waitlist request, to send you acknowledgments and follow-ups about it, to run the concierge process of matching briefs with writers, and to operate and secure the site. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Who processes it for us

We rely on a small set of service providers to run the site: Cloudflare (hosting, email routing, and privacy-first analytics that do not use cookies), Brevo (sending our transactional email), Formspree (a backup form endpoint used only if our own fails), and Stripe (payments, when a deal is transacted). Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-first analytics that do not set advertising cookies or track you across sites. We do not run third-party ad trackers.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you have given us. Email desk@masthead.ink and we will take care of it.
